We import a lot of oil to use. However, we still export more than we import, we are in a surplus, which does surprise a lot of people :)Does the majority of oil consumed in the UK come from abroad or do we produce more than we buy?
We produce less oil than we use so we import it and the stuff we produce is not suitable for quite the same things as the imported oil. We also import more gas than we produce and more coal than we produce, even though we have extensive coal fields. Short term economics outweighs longer term energy security or sustainability.Does the majority of oil consumed in the UK come from abroad or do we produce more than we buy?
Your fist hypothesis is correct. We buy more than we produce.
