They are both oil paintings and they are both gorgeous. They are in very thick gold frames and one of them is signed and it looks like it says Frank. The lady said that they were in her grandmothers house while she was growing up and she passed away not knowing if they were worth anything. How do I find out?I bought 2 oil paintings this morning at a garage sale and I want to know how to find out what they are worth.?
take them to a museum they should be able to appraise them or tell you who can.I bought 2 oil paintings this morning at a garage sale and I want to know how to find out what they are worth.?
The first step is figuring out the artist's full name. You can do this through internet resources or head to the library. If you're not into doing research you can go to an appraiser to get it authenticated and figure out a price range, but that could end up costing more than the item is worth.
In the meantime you'll want to preserve them as well as possible. Since they're oils, you'll want to keep them in a cool place, and stored so that they don't receive too much light, but can still breathe. Whatever you do, don't reframe, restore, or clean it yourself.
