What would be wrong with striking a deal with Canada & Mexico to buy all their oil and let OPEC go?

don't put all your eggs in only two buckets - if I can say soWhat would be wrong with striking a deal with Canada %26amp; Mexico to buy all their oil and let OPEC go?
Try it and see! What would be wrong with striking a deal with Canada %26amp; Mexico to buy all their oil and let OPEC go?
We are already buying most of PEMEX production of crude and all of the natural gas Mexico exports. It's kind of late to go to Canada and do the same, since China is buying half of their oil, but we are still getting the other half.

Nothing wrong with your proposal, but we still don't have enough. Can't let OPEC go just like that, we still have to kiss their butts or bomb them. Depends on the price!
Buy their Oil ?

With what money ?

All your tax cash is getting blown in Iraq, pal!

Soon you'll be receiving social welfare aid from Mexico!!
I can see the negotiations now....

US : Good Morning. I'm here to buy all your oil please.

Canada : You what?

US : I want all your oil.

Canada : What about the oil we need?

US : Obviously you can keep enough for your domestic needs. Oh, have I shown you the photographs of my nephew in Iraq?

Canada : Um. That's OK. So how much will you pay for this oil?

US : Oh, the market rate.

Canada : I get that anyway. What else do I get?

US : Our protection!

Canada : Yeeeess, I see. A sort of give us all your oil and we'll protect you from.... errr from what exactly?

US : Those nasty al Qaeda terrortists.

Canada : We haven't got any al Qaeada terrorists.

US : Let's put it this way. You haven't got any al Qaeada terrorists.... YET!

CAnada : Thank you. We'll let you know. NEXT!
Beyond the fact that they don't produce enough to satisfy US demand why would they sell it only to the US if the market allows them to sell it at a higer price ?

No dude that ain't a simple problem it's a long term policy that is needed including putting more money in renewable energy.
Nothing. I think it is a good question.
