Is it possible to buy tuna fish packed in its own oil?

Huh? What do you mean by its own oil? It's too expensive and wasteful to extract oil from tuna just to can other tuna.Is it possible to buy tuna fish packed in its own oil?
Tuna used to be always packed in its own oil. The oil was not removed and replaced with water or olive oil. They did not take oil from another fish and add it to the fish that was packed. It was not an expensive process as removing the oil and replacing it with something else is. Get real! Report Abuse

Maybe from a cannery. I usually can my own. My husband smokes it (slightly) %26amp; I can it in pint jars. We use it for tuna casserole, tuna %26amp; noodles, tuna sandwiches, whatever...

Tuna is definately an oily fish, so it is easy to put a little raw in with the smoked to make

plenty of oil for the canning process...
i only know vegetable or olive oil. other than those or itself, no, never heard of it
yes its in a can and it says in oil not in water
never heard of it, olive oil yes. never its own
I've only ever seen it packaged in olive oil (sometimes referred to as ';Italian-style';). I don't believe that Tuna is that fatty.

I'd try this if you really want tuna packaged in oil.
