We have plenty of oil here in the U.S.A.. why does our government buy foreign oil?

i'm tired of working hard to pay for the high price of gas, rent, and over inflated grocery bills... when wiil the madness end?!We have plenty of oil here in the U.S.A.. why does our government buy foreign oil?
Only 40% of our actual oil consumption is met with domestic oil production. The remaining 60% must be imported.





The reason only 40% is made here, is simply because environmentalists have made it impossible for oil companies to expand production by all but shutting down any new oil exploration drilling, and by the fact that NO NEW refineries have been built in the last 30 years. Crude oil is no good if you don't refine it into usable products like gasoline.We have plenty of oil here in the U.S.A.. why does our government buy foreign oil?
because you waste everyone elses resources before you waste your own.... USA does not have plenty of oil and thats why you see the idiot Bush asking for more drilling in alaska.... with the new 90 million barrel oil discovery in Brazil, theres at least one more country we will be in debt with because of all the SUVs we have here in america.....Whats funny is Americans can force the oil companies hand at lowering the prices but unfortunately we have a bunch of Morons over here that wants an Escalade they cant afford, even though these Vechicles are the reason why we are having a Gas Crisis ..... oh yeah and with the oil companies running the world now it will only get worse ....
Simple.





The E.P.A. is now a branch of the government, didn't anyone tell you? (sarcasm implied) Drilling in oil-rich states here in the U.S. would disturb ';nature.'; My culo.





Also, my state (California) has gone out of it's way to be a front runner in all things environmental. Pretty soon our homes will be built out of green-board (aka cardboard) and burping will be punishable by fines (the gases harm the ozone, afterall).
Because all the damn tree-huggers won't let us drill....';oh save the birdies, or save the caribou';....

I mean, I love animals...but if it comes down to my money or a displaced animal.....Buh Bye, Fuzz Ball!
Because the Bush family has an interest in oil and once he gets out of office he wants to make sure he is still making the kind of money he made while he was president. The madness will never end.
Chevron found a lot of oil somewhere in the ocean (Pacific?).





However, there's no way to get it (yet) since it's so deep.
